The Alliance Senior Peltz Co baseball team got back to their winning ways Tuesday in a contest in Bridgeport. After losing 3 straight, Alliance dominated the Bombers 16 to 3.
The Spartan offense pounded out 12 hits led by 3 each from Kegan Nelson, Mikey Johnson, and Kaden Ferguson. Four pitchers allowed 8 Bombers hits. Pitching for Alliance were: Nelson, Jackson Smith, Carver Nemnich, and Jaxson Martinez.
The Spartan offense was sharp from the start. Leadoff batter Tony Escamilla began action by reaching on a hit by batter. Singles then ensured from Nelson, Ferguson, Kobe Strom, and Cody Gallas. Up by 3, a hit by Johnson drove in 2 more and the inning closed with the Peltz Co ahead 5 to 0. An Alliance double play kept the hosts off the board in the bottom of the first.
The Spartans increased their advantage in the second with 2 more tallies. Another Nelson hit was followed by a double by Ferguson. An error by BP brought in another Alliance run, putting the Spartans ahead by 7. No runs were scored in innings three and fourth with another double play turned by Alliance keeping the Bombers scoreless. The Spartan lead went to 8 to 0 in the fifth with Gallas scoring on a single by Johnson. Bridgeport got into the scoring column in the fifth. The Bombers used 5 hits and tallied 3 runs.
An 8 run sixth by the Peltz Co put the game away. Errors, wild pitches, and pass balls allowed the Spartans to increase their lead. The inning closed with RBI hits by Johnson, Nelson, and Ferguson. Heading to the sixth and final inning, the Peltz Co led 16 to 3. Bridgeport would not score in their last at bat as Alliance on for the 16 to 3 victory.
