Spartan Juniors Cruise Past Bridgeport Behind 9 Run Inning

On Tuesday, the Peltz Co Junior baseball team went to Bridgeport to play the Bombers. Alliance won the contest 11 to 0 with help from a 9 run third inning. Pitcher Lexton Salcido went the distance for Spartans giving just 1 run and striking out 4. Alliance finished with 10 hits thanks to 3 each from Jackson Smith and Roman Escamilla.

Smith began his big night with a leadoff single but 3 straight outs ended the top of the first. Bridgeport went quietly in their first attempt and the game went to the second with no scores. The Peltz Co plated 2 runs in the second to take the lead. Alliance’s Kobe Strom walked and scored on an RBI hit by Escamilla. An error by the Bombers gave the Spartans run #2. The inning came to a close with hits Smith and EJ Garcia but no more runs. Alliance put the ball game away in the third. Three BP errors set the stage for the big inning. A 2 run hit by Escamilla put Alliance up by 4. It was followed by an RBI double by Jaxson Martinez and 2 run single by Smith. Five walks by the Bombers and a fielder’s choice increased the Alliance lead. A walk to Carson Stull and another Escamilla hit ended the scoring with the Peltz Co up 11 to 0.

Bridgeport would fail to score in both the third and fourth innings with Salcido recording 2 Ks. In the fifth, hits by Nason Thompson and Jaxon Poss helped the Spartans start a mini rally but both runners were stranded. Bridgeport went scoreless in the fifth and the game ended with Alliance winning 11 to 0.
