Spartan Juniors Roll Past Gering 16 to 0

The Class B area 7 district tournament began Friday, July 12 in McCook with 7 teams participating. Alliance started the five day event with a contest against rival Gering. The Peltz Co wasted little time in downing B&C Steel squad 16 to 0 in an affair called after 2 and one half innings. Alliance needed just 2 at bats, scoring 7 runs in the first and 9 more in the second in getting the victory. Starting pitcher Tony Escamilla went the 3 inning for Alliance giving up just one hit while striking out 4. On offense, the Spartans recorded 12 hits. Braeden Clarke led the Peltz Co with 3 hits.

Gering went quietly in the top of the first with Escamilla getting one K. Alliance would bat around in the home half of inning one. Walks to Espen Lanik and Jackson Smith began the scoring. Escamilla was next and his single scored the first run.

The Peltz Co’s big inning continued with a hit by Nason Thompson. With the bases full, Alliance then got back to back RBI walks from Creighton Fritzler and Kobe Strom to move ahead 3 to 0. A 2 run RBI hit by Spartan Jaxson Martinez ensued as the Alliance lead went to 5. Clarke was next and his 2 RBI single made the score 7 to 0 after one inning of action.

Two more Escamilla strikeouts kept Gering scoreless in the top of the second while in the bottom of the frame, Alliance tallied 9 more runs. Fritzler started the scoring with a single and it was followed by a walk to Martinez. The sacks was then full after another single by Clarke.

A 2 run single by EJ Garcia was next as the Peltz Co surged ahead 9 to 0. Alliance got run #10 on a Gering balk. Lanik then singled making the score 11 to 0. Consecutive hits by Escamilla and Fritzler continued the scoring. A triple by Strom made the score 15 to 0. The inning came to a close with another Clarke hit and the Spartans up 16 to 0. Gering would go 1-2-3 in the top of the third.
