The 3 day Alliance Peltz Co Prep tournament came to an end on Sunday with the Spartans defeating Sidney 10 to 5. Alliance went 5 and 2 for the weekend. The Spartans scored 5 first inning runs and were never threatened in this four inning game. Three pitchers-Jackson Devlin, Jaden Garcia, and Mason Winter – held Sidney to 6 hits.
Walks to Alliance’s Cisco Cody and Smiley Valdovinos began the game with Cody scoring first on a steal of home. A Sidney error and a hit by Spartan Eban Lore pushed the lead to 3 to 0. Another walk and a wild pitch ended the frame with the Peltz Co ahead 5 to 0. Sidney got one run in the bottom of the inning but an Alliance double play ended the rally. No runs were scored in the second. The Spartans did get a Jay Shelmadine single. Hits from Lore and Preston Flores in the third put the lead for Alliance at 6 to 1. Three hits by the guest got Sidney a run in the third.
The Peltz Co put the contest away in the fourth with 4 runs. Two walks began the rally. Kyler Hamel had a RBI out that scored run #7.
Lore added another hit-his third-that plated 2 more scores. Cooper Gallas finished the scoring with a single, making the score 10 to 2. Sidney answered back with 3 runs in the bottom of the inning on 4 walks and a hit.
