Spartan Seniors End Season with 3 to 0 Loss to Johnson Auburn

In the finals of the Area 7 district tournament it was the First National Bank of Johnson Auburn downing the Alliance Senior squad 3 to 0. Auburn used strong starting pitching and solid defense in punching its ticket to the state tourney. The Peltz Co was held to 5 hits in the game, which was played in Gering. The 2 teams had played twice in the tournament with both teams getting a victory. Starting pitcher for Alliance was Kaden Ferguson who was relieved by Tony Escamilla.

Alliance would get a leadoff single by Espen Lanik in the top of the first to began the action. EJ Garcia was next and the Spartan reached following a single on a sacrifice bunt. Unfortunately, Auburn was able to turn a double play and get a strike out to end the threat.

The Peltz Co found trouble in the bottom of the first. A leadoff triple by Auburn gave FNB a chance. With one out, a sacrifice fly made the score 1 to 0. Alliance was turned away scoreless in the top of the second despite a single by Spartan Nason Thompson. Another twin killing by Auburn denied any runs for Alliance. Two strikeouts by Ferguson kept the score at 1 to 0 after 2 innings of play.

In inning 3 the Peltz Co failed to score while 2 more Ks by Ferguson stopped Auburn from increasing their margin. Escamilla began the fourth for Alliance with a single but 3 straight outs left the Spartans without a tally. Auburn would go 1-2-3 in their try in the bottom of the fourth as the score stayed at 1 to 0.

Despite a single by Spartan Braeden Clarke, Alliance failed to score in the top of inning #5. Meanwhile, the Auburn offense went to work in the bottom of the inning. The First National Bank used 2 doubles and a single to tally 2 runs which made the score 3 to 0. The Peltz Co would go scoreless in both the sixth and seventh frame as Auburn went on for 3 to 0 victory.
