Spartan Seniors Pick up Third Win on the Year with Victory over Gordon

On Thursday, May 29, the Alliance Peltz Co senior squad traveled to Gordon for a battle against the Regulators. The Spartans scored big runs in all three innings and defeated the Security First club 16 to 1. With the win, Alliance goes to 3 and 0 for the year. The contest was stopped after 3 innings due to the run rule. Cody Galles pitched all three innings for the Spartans, giving up 4 hits while striking out 7. The Peltz Co offense ended with 4 hits and benefited from 8 errors by the hosts and 12 walks. Tony Escamilla led the way with 2 hits.

Three tallies in the top of the first got Alliance off to a super start. Galles would reach on an error by the Regulators and eventually score on a bases loaded walk. Escamilla was next and his 2 run single made the score 3 to 0. Galles would record three k’s in the bottom of the first while Gordon scored a run to cut their deficit to 2.

Alliance’s offense came alive in the top of inning 2. The Spartans plated 9 runs to go up 12 to 1. Jackson Smith started the spree by reaching base following another miscue by the hosts. Two more Gordon errors made the score 4 to 1. A sacrifice fly by Alliance’s Kobe Strom resulted in run #5. The Spartans then extended their margin to 5 with an RBI hit by Mikey Johnson. Troubles in the field would again plague the Regulators as 2 more errors by Gordon gave Alliance 2 more tallies. The big frame came to a close with RBI hits by Escamilla and Smith and more miscues by the Gordon defense. Heading to the bottom of the second, the Alliance lead stood at 12 to 1. Galles was again solid in the bottom of the frame. The Spartan struck out 2 more Regulators and held the hosts scoreless.

Despite no hits in the top of the third, Alliance added to their lead with 4 more runs. The Spartans used 6 walks and another error by Gordon to make the scorebook read Alliance 16 Gordon 1. Two more strikeouts by Galles then ended the game.
