Opening action at the Class B state legion junior baseball tourney started for the Alliance White club with a match up with rival Gering. Six runs in the first 2 innings was more than enough for the Spartans in an 8 to 0 victory over B&C . With the W, the Peltz Co goes to 28-3-1 for the season. Alliance jumped to a 3 to 0 margin in their first at bat then added 3 mores tallies in the second to take a big lead. Pitching was also sharp for the White squad as Gering was held to just 2 hits for the contest . Starting pitcher Kegan Rodriguez began the shutout with 3 scoreless frames. Reliever Lexton Salcido tossed the final 2 innings. On offense, the Spartans had 7 hits on the evening with Kobe Strom leading the way with 3 knocks. The contest was played Saturday in Gering.
B&C steel batted first and went down quickly. In the home half, the Peltz Co put 3 in the scoring column. Leadoff hitter Espen Lanik walked to began the action and advanced after a hit by Carver Nemnich. An RBI hitter by Strom ensued as the Spartans went up 1 to 0. Alliance’s final 2 scores came after an error by Gering and a passed ball. After one inning of play, the White squad had a 3 to 0 advantage.
Similar to inning one was frame 2 with Gering not scoring and Alliance putting up three. Rodriguez had 2 second inning strikeouts keeping the Alliance lead at 3. In the home half, the Spartans loaded the sacks thanks to walks to Lanik and Creighton Fritzler and Nemnich reaching on an error by B&C. The Peltz Co margin then went to 5 after singles by Strom and Nason Thompson. Scoring closed for Alliance with a sac fly by Tony Escamilla which made the score 6 to 0.
Rodriguez continued his gem with a scoreless third and another k. Alliance also went without a tally in the bottom of the inning. With Salcido on the mound, Gering again went quietly in the top of frame 4. Alliance pushed one across in the bottom to extend their margin to 7. Thompson walked and moved into scoring position after a miscue by Gering. The Peltz Co cashed in on the error after a hit by Mikey Johnson and sacrifice fly by Braeden Clarke. In Gering’s last attempt, B&C was denied while the Spartans ended the game with one more score. The Peltz Co got a Nemnich double and a single by Strom to get close. A Thompson free pass loaded the base paths for Fletcher Moseman and his RBI walk closed the contest with the Spartans winning 8 to 0. The game was called due to the run rule.

The White club will next be in action on Sunday with a ball game with the Bombers of West Point.
