At approximately 12:34 p.m. on June 11, the Scottsbluff Police Department was dispatched to the intersection of East 27th St. and Highway 26 regarding a motor vehicle accident. It was reported that the collision involved a single vehicle and a sport motorcycle with a rider.

Dispatch also advised that the rider of the motorcycle was not breathing and did not have a pulse. Lifesaving measures were attempted by the Scottsbluff Fire Department, Regional West Ambulance Services, and a registered nurse who stopped to assist.

These efforts failed and the motorcycle rider was declared deceased at the scene. The only two vehicles involved were the sport motorcycle and a 2009 Subaru Outback. The driver of the motor vehicle reported no injuries. The rider of the motorcycle was later identified as Darrius Davis, 32, of Gering.

The case was assigned to a Scottsbluff Police Department Certified Accident Reconstructionist. This accident is actively being investigated at this time. The Scottsbluff Police Department was assisted by the Scotts Bluff County Sheriff’s Office, Scottsbluff Fire Department, and Regional West Ambulance.
