On October 15 at approximately 1 p.m., Scottsbluff Police responded to a reported three vehicle accident at the intersection of Hwy 26 and E 20th ST. The investigation found that a white 2015 Nissan Xterra driven by Katie Weiland, F39 of Gering, NE. was stopped on E 20th ST when it then entered the intersection with Hwy 26, failing to yield to a northwest bound silver 2018 Honda Odyssey being driven by Josue Gomez-Garza, M47 of Alliance, NE. The Odyssey struck the front end of the Xterra in the intersection. The collision caused the Xterra to impact a black 2017 Chevrolet Equinox driven by Trisha Clingan, F53 of Scottsbluff, NE. that was stopped at the posted stop sign at the north corner of the intersection. The impacts resulted in the Xterra and Equinox to come to rest in the drainage ditch near the north corner of the intersection. Four involved passengers were transported to Regional West Medical Center via ambulance for treatment of minor injuries. Citation is pending further investigation. All three vehicles were total losses and were towed from the scene. The intersection was partially closed for approximately one hour during the investigation. Scottsbluff Fire Department and RWMC Ambulance Services assisted in the response.
