SPD Responds to Two Vehicle Accident

On April 28, 2025 at 8:15pm the Scottsbluff Police Department was notified of a two-vehicle motor vehicle collision with suspected injuries at the intersection of Avenue B and South Beltline Highway West. Investigation discovered a Lincoln SUV was Westbound on South Belt Highway West occupied by five and a Ford SUV occupied by two was Southbound on Avenue B. The Ford SUV failed to stop at the Stop signed and entered the intersection, striking the Lincoln in the passenger side of the vehicle. This caused the Lincoln to spin and strike a sign in the median of South Beltline then came to rest in the Eastbound lanes. Driver of the Lincoln was not wearing a seatbelt and sustained an injury to the head. Three juvenile passengers in the back of the Lincoln SUV reported injuries to abdomen and pelvis as well as neck injury. One of the passengers injured was not wearing a seatbelt. Driver and juvenile passengers were transported by Regional West Ambulance to Regional West Medical Center for treatment. Driver and passenger of the Ford SUV reported no injuries. Driver Elizabeth Johnson, 45 of Gering, was cited for Stop Sign Violation and No Valid Registration. Both vehicles were towed from the scene due to disabling damages. The intersection of Avenue B and South Beltline Highway West was closed for about one hour for the investigation and clearing the roadway of debris.
