Action on Monday had the Alliance St Agnes volleyball teams on the road for games in Morrill. Paced by a 17 point performance by Delaney Jelinek, the Crusader varsity squad defeated the Lions 25 9 25 13. The Academy also got the win in the JV match up. Alliance won a thrilling 3 setter by scores of 25 12 22 25 15 4. The varsity club now has a 9 and 6 record on the year. Quinn Robertson added 8 points to help the Lady Crusaders get the win.
Lots of scoring sprees best described set 1 of the varsity battle. Morrill scored the first 2 points but it was all Alliance after that. Eight tallies by Robertson ensued as the Academy surged ahead. A kill by Crusader Aubrey Dudden helped the Academy build a nice margin. Two points by Alexis Shelmadine later in the set pushed the Alliance advantage to 11 to 3. Ahead 13 to 6, Jelinek went to the line ran off 11 in a row as Alliance went up by 18 at 24 to 6. During the spree, Alliance got kills from Addison Intermill and Kale Hulquist. Another kill by Hulquist ended the set with the Crusaders getting the win 25 9.
Morrill controlled the action early in set 2. The Lions roared to 3 to 1 lead. Knotted at 4, four points by Jelinek carried the Academy to a lead at 8 to 4. Intermill had a kill during the run. Later in the set, Alliance got 4 straight tallies by Hulquist to pull away. Kills by Robertson and Shelmadine aided the spree. Big plays later in set by Dudden, Robertson, and Shelmadine put the Academy lead at 21 to 12. The set came to an end with 3 consecutive tallies by Dudden. Final Alliance 25 13
