On Monday, the track year came to a close for the Alliance St. Agnes teams with a home meet. The quad consisted of SA, AMS, Chadron, and Hyannis. The AMS boys won both the teams races. AMS 7th graders tallied 181 points for first, Chadron was second with 60 and St. Agnes was third with 44 points. In the 8th grade boy’s level the Bulldogs from AMS were first with 122 points. Chadron was second with 89 points while the Crusaders were third with 51 points. Chadron won both the team titles on the girl’s side.
The Cardinals scored 146 points in the 7th grade and 123 point for the 8th grade division. The Lady Crusaders netted 101 points for second in the 8th grade race. St. Agnes was third in the 7th grade girl’s race with 52 points.
AMS was second in the 7th grade girl’s level with 66 points. Weather shortened the meet following the girl’s 800. Athletes didn’t compete in the 200 hurdles, 400 relay, and mile relay.
The meet concluded a very successful year for St. Agnes. SA broke six school records and both boys and girls were Panhandle Conference champs! Eighth grader Coy Childers had 3 new school records in the 100 hurdles, pole vault, and as a member of the 400 relay. Along with Coy were members: Caysen Robertson, Jackson Devlin, and Tanner Salcido. Their time of 49.2 broke the record from 2013.
Coy’s time in the hurdles was 17.1 and his height in the pole vault was 10’0. The boys also broke the mile relay record with a time of 4:03, members: Salcido Robertson, Jackson Devlin, and Jay Shelmadine. Two girl’s school records were broken. Kimber Freiberger broke her own record in the mile with a time of 6:01. Reese Armstrong has the new school record in the pole vault with a vault of 8’6.
