As a hobby I like wood working. I’m not an expert and I like simple projects. In wood projects there is one standard which all use: to have correct measurements. I use “inches” and trust my tape measure or ruler. Only by using a basic standard do projects turn out alright. Can you imagine someone saying they didn’t believe using inches, but would just make up their own standards for each phase of the project? I once worked on a house after it had been “fixed” by a man without a level or any measurement standards. It was a mess!
The same mess is in a person’s life without a standard to live by. I suggest that God, our Creator, has a standard written for us to use in measuring life. That measure is found in Scripture, the Bible. Jesus said, “The words I have spoken to you are spirit and they are life” (John 6:63). In view of what Jesus says, would II Timothy 2:15, fit the purpose of our life asking us to “correctly handle the word of truth” (Bible)? I join you in thanking God for giving us the Bible for this life and telling us about Jesus.
