Suspect Arrested After Drive-By Shooting, Standoff in Oshkosh

The Nebraska State Patrol has arrested one person following a reported drive-by shooting and standoff in Oshkosh overnight.

At approximately 11:00 p.m. on Wednesday, November 22, the Garden County Sheriff’s Office was notified of a drive-by shooting that had occurred in the 400 block of East Avenue H in Oshkosh. There were no injuries reported in the shooting. The involved vehicle was located a short time later at a residence in the 400 block of West 5th Street.

Garden County deputies requested assistance from the Nebraska State Patrol. The suspect was identified as Henry Schuff, 54, of Oshkosh. Schuff is prohibited from possessing a firearm.

NSP investigators made contact with the suspect at the residence, but the suspect refused to exit the home. The NSP SWAT team was activated. Additional attempts were made to have the suspect exit. At approximately 4:50 a.m., the suspect voluntarily exited the residence and was taken into custody.

NSP SWAT performed a search warrant on the home and located numerous firearms. Schuff was lodged in Scotts Bluff County Jail for possession of a firearm by a prohibited person. Additional charges are pending. NSP continues to investigate the drive-by shooting.
