The Box Butte County Prairie Dog Advisory Board Report

The Advisory board hosted an educational program with the representatives of the KaPut product for the control of the Prairie Dogs in Box Butte County. It was held on August 26, at 2:00 PM, at the Knight Museum and Sandhills Center in the Gallery Room. Their representative informed the crowd and members of the board about the proper use of their product for the control season of October 1 through March 15. Much knowledge was gained by all in attendance about the proper use of the various products for the control of the Prairie Dog.

The board had a regular monthly meeting after the educational meeting concluded. The members present were Mike Johnson, chairman, Jim Furman, Lynn Placek, Tim Sherlock, and Shawn Hunter. It was felt there was good attendance for the educational meeting and lots of good questions as to how best to control the Prairie Dogs again this year. The Management Plan for Box Butte County was reviewed. The Management Plan Form was also reviewed, and minor changes were made for this coming Prairie Dog control season. Weed Superintendent, Bret Lauder, was asked about purchasing control products for this coming season. Brett said he would check to see if we can get volume pricing for county residents.

The meeting adjourned at 4:00 PM.
