Everything clicked for the Alliance boy’s basketball team Tuesday evening in a home game against Gordon/Rushville. The Bulldogs put 10 players in the scoring column while holding the visiting Mustangs to just 7 baskets in a 73 to 18 victory. With the win Alliance now sees its record go to 5 and 7 for the season. Alliance also garnered a W in the junior varsity ball game played earlier. The JV team downed Gordon 81 to 6.
An old-fashion three-point play by Alliance’s Seth Meyring began the onslaught. It was followed by a three by Bulldog Espen Lanik that increased the Alliance lead to 6. Another score by Meyring made the score 8 to 0 in the opening minutes of play. Gordon came back with a three of their own but it was the only points by the Mustangs in the first. With the score 8 to 3 Alliance would go on 15 to 0 run to end the period. Senior Tristen Timbers began the stretch with 4 points in a row to help the Dogs go up 12 to 3. Five more Lanik points including another three pushed the Gordon deficit to 17 to 3. The quarter closed with Alliance getting hoops by Burt Trevino, Jonah Amill, and Meyring. After one period of play the Bulldogs led 23 to 3.
A steal and score by Timbers began play in the second. The Mustangs answered back with a three but a three pointer by Meyring made the score 28 to 6 in favor of Alliance. Lanik continued his scoring fury with a three point play as the Bulldog lead grew to 25. At the six minute mark the Dogs got scores from Jackson Norris, Lanik, and Meyring to increase their margin to 41 to 7. The first 16 minutes ended with Timbers, Norris, and Trevino scoring more for the Bulldogs. At half Alliance led 53 to 9.
Buckets by Lanik and Timbers in the opening stages of period three helped Alliance’s lead grow to 57 to 9. Gordon responded with the game’s next 4 points but another three by Lanik stopped the Mustang momentum. With the clock running the Bulldogs would close the period with two point baskets by Jett Herian and Norris. Heading to the fourth, AHS had a 64 to 14 lead. Alliance’s reserves would account for all the Bulldog points in the finale. Sophomore Lexton Salcido was the Bulldog leading scorer in the quarter with four points. A three by Bulldog Trevor Zurn and a two pointer from Ethan Little Hoop rounded out the scoring in the period. Final Alliance 73 Gordon/Rushville 18.

Three Dogs finished with double digits in scoring, led by 21 points by Lanik. Meyring had 13 while Timbers scored 12. Tallying six apiece were Norris and Trevino, while Amill and Salcido totaled 4 points each. Zurn closed with three while adding two each were Little Hoop and Herian.
