Runs scored in every inning and a strong pitching performance by Cody Galles lifted the Alliance senior Spartan team past Ogallala 15 to 2 in legion baseball play Thursday night. The Peltz Co improved to 2 and 0 for the season. Alliance scored 3 runs in the opening frame and finished the battle with 6 runs in the finale in getting the victory. Tony Escamilla had a big evening for the Spartans. The Spartan third baseman ended the game with 3 hits and 3 RBIs. Overall, the Peltz Co pounded out 11 hits while limiting the hosts to just one. Starting pitcher Cody Galles went the first four innings, giving up just one hit and striking out 5 Ogallala Bank and Trust hitters. Braeden Clarke finished the game. The Spartan reliever went 2 frames and struck out 3. Adding 2 hits each were Alliance’s Espen Lanik and Kobe Strom. The game was played in Ogallala.
A little 2 out magic occurred in the top of the first for the Spartans. After the first 2 batters were retired, Alliance got a hit by Strom. Escamilla was next and his single scored the game’s first tally. The inning continued with a RBI hits by Carver Nemnich and Jaxson Esparza. Ogallala counted with a score of their own in the bottom of the opener. The Bank and Trust used an Alliance error and a double to make the score 3 to 1 after one inning of action.
Two more runs crossed the plate for Alliance in the second. The Spartans got a knock from Jaxon Poss who then scored run #4 following a hit by Lanik. The Peltz Co lead then went to 5 to 1 with an RBI single by Galles. Two strike out recorded by Galles in the bottom of the second kept the score at Alliance 5 OG 1.
Alliance used smart hitting in the top of inning #3 to increase their margin. The Peltz Co got a double by Strom and a sac bunt by Escamilla to move him to third. Strom then scored Alliance’s 6th run thanks to a sacrifice fly by Nemnich. Galles set the hosts down 1-2-3 in the home half and the game went to the fourth went Alliance ahead 6 to 1. Inning 4 had one more score by both squads. Alliance’s Creighton Fritzler reached on a miscue by Ogallala to start a mini spree. Lanik followed with an RBI double as the Peltz Co moved ahead 7 to 1. The Bank and Trust scored one tally in the bottom of the inning. Ogallala used an error by Alliance and couple of walks to slice their deficit to 7 to 2 after four innings of play.
In the fifth, the Peltz Co scored 2 more. The seniors got a walk by Strom and another hit by Escamilla to set up Nemnich whose RBI ground out made the score 8 to 2. An error by Ogallala ensued as the Alliance advantage grew to 9 to 2. With Clarke now on the bump, the hosts went down in order in the bottom of the fifth.
Six insurance runs by the Spartans put the game away in the top of the sixth. A Fritzler walk started the big frame and an OG error made the score 10 to 2. Following another Alliance walk, Escamilla ended his big night with a 2 run hit that put the Spartans up by 10. Two more free passes by the Ogallala pitchers then loaded the sacks for Lexton Salcido. The Spartan’s hard hit was booted by the hosts and cleared the bases. Heading to the final frame, the Peltz Co lead stood at 15 to 2. Clarke had a scoreless inning thanks to 2 strikeouts.
