Timber! Alliance Downs Valentine 58 to 34

Paced by a 10 catch 191 yard and 3 touchdown performance by senior receiver Tristen Timbers the Alliance Bulldogs improved to 2 and 1 on the year with a 58 to 34 win Friday in a ball game played at Bulldog stadium. Alliance pulled away in the fourth quarter, guests outscoring the 22 to 6 for the victory. Senior quarterback Landon Crowe was also impressive in the contest. The Bulldog signal caller threw for 5 scores and ran for one.

A blocked punt by the visitors started the action in the opening minutes of the game. It would take just one play for the Badgers to cash in on the miscue, scoring of a 4 yard touchdown run. With 11:06 in the first period, Valentine led 8 to 0. Alliance answered with a nice series which ended with a 28 yard touchdown strike from Crowe to Jonah Amill. The point after was no good and with 7:57 left in the period Valentine held the lead at 8 to 6. Right before the conclusion of the opening period, it was the guests scoring again. A ten yard Badger rushing touchdown pushed their advantage to 14 to 6 after the opening 12 minutes. The Alliance defense would stiffen in quarter 2. Big tackles for loss by Matthew Moomey and Jett Herian kept AHS close. A fumble recovery by Cole Stoike stopped a Valentine drive midway through the second quarter. The Alliance offense then took over. A short pass from Crowe to Seth Meyring turned into a big play as the Bulldog receiver broke a tackle and raced 47 yards to tie the school at 14. Unfortunately for AHS it was the Badger defense who scored the next points. A tipped Alliance pass was intercepted by the guests and returned 90 yards for the game’s next points. With 6 minutes left in the half Valentine surged ahead 20 to 14. Period 2 saw the Bulldogs go ahead with Crowe running it from the 2 yard line. Crowe passed to Espen Lanik for the extra point and the teams went into half with Alliance leading 22 to 20.
