Time Change

It’s that time of year again, everybody. It’s time to change your clocks! Daylight Saving Time is officially over on Sunday at two o’clock in the morning. Since the actual time that the time change occurs is at such an obscure hour, it is advised that before you go to bed tonight to set your clock back one hour and enjoy the extra hour of sleep in the morning! Daylight Saving Time actually began on the Sunday March 10th at 2am and ends this Sunday, November 3rd, at 2am. The time of 2am was chosen because it’s when most people are home and a sudden loss or gain of an hour at this time is about the least obtrusive time to do it. There are several places in the U.S. that do not observe Daylight Saving Time and include Hawaii, Guam, Puerto Rico, American Samoa and the Virgin Islands. The Eastern Time Zone of Indiana and most of Arizona also do not observe the time change. The Navajo Reservation in Arizona does actually have the time change but only because the entire Reservation is part of three different states. A little confusing, isn’t it?! Then there’s the question about the name…is it Daylight Saving Time or Daylight SavingS Time? According to my 6th Grade English teacher, ‘saving’ is used here as a verbal adjective and it modifies time and tells us more about its nature. But since just about everybody says Savings, it’s come to be accepted as correct anyway.

Forecast discussion for the week ahead:

As we move into November, the average high is in the upper 50s and we’ll be pretty close to that the next several days. Overnight lows will be in the middle 20s, so near normal there, as well. Precipitation will be limited, so I’m expecting mostly sunny to partly cloudy skies over the weekend, but we may see a rain snow mix early next week.
