A very impressive 7 game win streak by the Alliance Prep Spartans came to an end Tuesday night in a contest versus the Tigers from Torrington. Alliance gave up 5 runs in both the first and fourth innings and fell to the guests 11 to 0 in the first game of a double header played in Alliance. The Tiger offense registered 13 hits in the four inning affair. Pitching for the Peltz Co were starter Fletcher Moseman and Jaden Garcia.
The first seven batters reached bases in the top of the first for the Tigers. Torrington had 4 hits, 2 walks, and an error by the Spartans to plate 5 runs. Meanwhile, Alliance got a lead off single by Teegan O’Gorman and a walk by Moseman to begin a comeback. The next 3 Spartans unfortunately went down and the contest went to the second inning with the Peltz Co behind 5 to 0. Two more miscues by Alliance in the second help the Tigers tally one more run and the guests saw their margin go to 6 to 0. Alliance failed in their at bat in the bottom of the second.
Both teams went scoreless in the third. A leadoff single by Spartan Jay Shelmadine gave Alliance hope but three straight outs finished the mini rally. The Tigers then went on the offensive in their last at bat in the top of inning #4. Torrington sent 10 batters to the plate and scored 5 more runs. The visitors used 4 hits, 2 walks, and an error by the Spartans to surge ahead 11 to 0. In the last of the fourth, Reese Muhr singled but an out at first by Torrington ended the game.
