Twelve Hits Carry Spartan White Team Past Douglas 9 to 6

The bats came alive in the opening inning for the Alliance White club on Sunday in a legion baseball against Douglas. Alliance scored 8 runs in the first and then held on for a 9 to 6 win. With the victory, the Peltz Co now sees their record stand at 3 and 1 for the season. Four Spartans-Jaxon Poss, Nason Thompson, Jaxson Esparza, and Creighton Fritzler- all had 2 knocks to lead the Alliance offense. In all, the Peltz Co had 12 hits for the game. Starting pitcher Israel Garcia went 2 innings and was relief by Lexton Salcido who went the final 5.

Poss began the big 8 run first inning with a double to set the table. It was followed by a triple by Jackson Smith that plated Poss. An RBI ground out by Thompson made the scoreboard read 2 to 0. Alliance was far from being done. A Kobe Strom single was next and hits by Esparza and Fritzler put Alliance in front 3 to 0. The hit parade ensued with the Spartans getting hits by Carver Nemnich and Garcia to increase their margin. RBI walks by Alliance’s Tanner Salcido and Tony Escamilla helped continue the scoring. The inning came to an end with Escamilla stealing home and the Peltz Co leading 8 to 0. Douglas answered with a run of their own in the bottom of the inning but an Alliance double play ended the threat. Innings 2 and 3 had neither team getting in the scoring column. Fritzler had a hit in the second and Poss added a hit in the third but both runners failed to score.

In the fourth, the Spartans got hits by Thompson and Esparza to continue their fine play. Both runners were stranded and the momentum went to the side of the Cats. Douglas crawled back into the contest with 3 runs in the bottom of the fourth. An Alliance error plus a single and a double pulled the home team to within 4 at 8 to 4. No runs were tallied in the fifth but both teams got on the scoreboard in the sixth. A triple by Thompson was followed by an RBI ground out by Braeden Clarke to made the score 9 to 4. The Cats responded with a run of their own on a walk and a couple of singles. Heading to the seventh, the Spartan lead stood at 9 to 5. Alliance went 1-2-3 in their final attempt. Meanwhile, Douglas added a tally in their last at bat to make things interesting. The Cats used a hit by batter and an Alliance miscue to pull within 3 at 9 to 6. A fly out to centerfielder Poss ended the game with Alliance getting the win.
