On the evening of September 27, 2024, at approximately 10:43 PM, Scottsbluff Police, with assistance from the Scotts Bluff County Sheriff’s Office, responded to a two-vehicle accident involving a rollover at the intersection of Highway 26 and 21st Avenue.

Upon investigation, it was determined that a 2016 black Chrysler 200, driven by 68-year-old Dennis Sperfslage, a resident of Iowa, was traveling westbound on Highway 26. The Chrysler, which had an adult male passenger, collided with a 2023 dark blue Jeep Grand Cherokee in the intersection. The Jeep, driven by 32-year-old Scottsbluff resident Ashley Walsh, was traveling northbound on 21st Avenue after stopping at the flashing red traffic light and proceeding into the intersection. The Jeep also contained an infant passenger.

The front of the Chrysler struck the rear passenger side of the Jeep, causing the Jeep to flip over and land upside down. All occupants of both vehicles were wearing seatbelts and child restraints. Minor injuries were reported, and medical treatment was sought privately by those involved. No one was transported by ambulance from the scene.

Failure to yield is being investigated as the primary cause of the accident. No citations were issued at this time.

The Scottsbluff Fire Department and Regional West EMS were also on scene.
