A two-vehicle crash early Saturday morning on Highway 87 claimed the life of a Hay Springs man.
Cody Thomas, Public Relations Director with the Nebraska State Patrol, explained that law enforcement received the report of an accident at 12:10 a.m. occurring near Hemingford, with deputies from the Box Butte County Sheriff’s Office and the Nebraska State Patrol responding.
The accident involved a Nissan Juke and a Chevrolet Silverado, Thomas explained.
“Preliminary investigation shows that the Silverado was southbound and crossed the center line, striking the northbound Juke,” Thomas said. “The driver of the Juke, Kyle Edwards, 35, of Hay Springs, was pronounced deceased at the scene. One of the two occupants of the pickup was life-flighted to Bryan Medical Center West Campus in Lincoln with serious injuries.”
Thomas explained that the crash is still under investigation.
