A fuel leak is believed to be the start of a vehicle fire that totaled a truck last Tuesday afternoon.
Alliance Volunteer Fire Department Chief Troy Shoemaker said crews were called to the 400 block of Third Street on Aug. 3 in response to a fully-involved vehicle fire. Seven firefighters responded to the report.
“It was an older truck,” said Shoemaker. “By the report, it was not a vehicle that was being worked on by B&S Auto, it was the gentleman that owned the pickup was working on it on his own. We had a total of $6,500 of damage to that pickup, which basically that out.”
Shoemaker explained that the fire started in the back half of the truck and spread to the cabin and engine. He noted that a car parked near the truck sustained an estimated $500 of damage due to exposure to the fire.
