A vehicle struck a child Saturday afternoon, resulting in injuries requiring the victim to be transported to the hospital.
According to Lieutenant Kendall Allison with the Alliance Police Department, the accident happened in the 900 block of South Niobrara Avenue. At approximately 2:06 p.m., Seth Clark, who was driving a GMC pickup, was southbound on Niobrara Avenue when the collision occurred.
“Several pedestrians ran from east to west across Niobrara,” said Allison. “(Clark) slowed for the pedestrians. One of the pedestrians turned around and ran back east from behind a parked vehicle into the pathway of (Clark’s vehicle).”
Allison said Clark applied his brakes, but was unable to stop before striking the 11-year-old. The child was transported to Box Butte General Hospital for leg fractures.
Upon investigation, Allison said evidence showed no excessive speed of other traffic violations committed by Clark.
