Veteran’s Day Program Hosted at the Academy

St. Agnes hosted their annual Veteran’s Day ceremony on Tuesday, November 11. The program was held at the Holy Rosary Parish Center. It began with a prayer by Father Matt and opening remarks from Mr. Wilhlem. Grades K-6 then sang the National Anthem along with other Military Hymns. Eighth graders Grace Shrewsbury, Addison Intermill, Alexis Shelmadine, and Aubrey Dudden then presented a power point report on the Revolutionary War. Resource Officer Tyler Sherlock then gave a nice talk about his thoughts on the military.

A second group of eighth graders-Lacie Torres, Aubrey Clark, Natalie Mullen, and Delaney Jelinek- then gave a power point over the Civil War. More military songs by the elementary classes then ensued. Up next was a speech from Coach Steve Nelson who emphasized that Veterans need to honor everyday, not just on Veteran’s Day and the importance of the US Flag. A power point presentation followed about World War 1. The presenters were 8th graders Mason Conyers, James Benzel, Enzo Kappius, and Tristin Hansen. Former pre school teacher Jenell Martinez then handed out gifts to all the veterans in the crowd. The final power point on World War 2 by 8th graders Jackson Chasek, Tatum Devlin, and Emerson Trumble concluded the presentations. Mrs. Martinez then read a poem “My Veteran’s Prayer”. Father Matt finished the program with a closing prayer.

Many thanks go out to all the people for helping with the ceremony. Thanks to Tyler and Nellie for their super talks. A big thank you to Mr. Cerv and the elementary classes for their fine singing. Thanks to Mrs Gould for helping with the power points. Nice job also to the 8th graders. Finally a big thank you goes to Mick and Janell Martinez and Ms Martinez for helping with the decorations and putting things together. Best wishes to all!
