If you haven’t heard, I will be retiring from my position as Box Butte County Clerk of the District Court on December 31, 2026. I will have served for 12 years.
My Deputy Clerk, Molly Ridgeway, has filed as a Republican to succeed me.
I fully endorse Molly!!!
She has served in our office for nearly seven years. She is, by far, the most qualified person to fill my position.
Between July 1, 2019, and February 28, 2026, Molly and I have been responsible for the payments and distribution of $4,629,419.51 in District Court funds. This money is realized through filing fees, fines, property settlements, alimony and more.
Since May 2020, we also have been responsible for an additional $193,392.44 that has been paid to our office for child support. That money is then sent to the State of Nebraska DHHS for disbursement.
We also have been responsible for tens of thousands of dollars in jail bond funds.
She also assists in filing quarterly child support expense forms for the State of Nebraska that results in roughly $32,000 annually in reimbursements from the State to the Box Butte County Treasurer.
Of the well over $4.8 million for which we have been responsible, not one cent has ever been questioned by the Nebraska State Auditor.
Molly also processes roughly 150 passport applications each year and is responsible for passport record keeping.
Molly assists Box Butte County residents that cannot afford an attorney with providing forms for Divorce, Child Custody & Support and Protection Orders.
Molly is our courtroom clerk, jury clerk, and responsible for filing all claims for our County Commissioners’ review.
Her customer service skills are beyond reproach. She is well-liked and respected by our fellow courthouse employees.
Molly and her husband, Sean, who is employed as an ag lender at an Alliance financial institution, have two small children.
I am proud to endorse her as the next Clerk of the District Court.
