Waldron’s Work on Display at Carnegie

By KYREN GIBSON

Announcing the arrival of Bachelor of Arts candidate at Hastings College, Sydnie Waldron, to Carnegie’s Studio Gallery! Sydnie Waldron is from Alliance, NE and has worked at Carnegie Arts Center since her senior year of college and has returned to work with us for the past two summers. Sydnie is the president of her college art guild and has already achieved great things in her second year at Hastings. We are so proud of all she has accomplished and are honored to get to display her ever evolving body of work! Sydnie’s work is a colorful blend of two-dimensional and three-dimensional work. We invite you to come explore her incredible exhibit and the thought provoking concepts that drive her work.

Do not forget that University of Nebraska Lincoln Master of Art Student Hannah Demma’s work is still on display in the upper Skala and Garwood Galleries for another week and half until June 26th. Hannah’s work is a combination of paper, print making, paint, mixed media and multi-media. Hannah’s pushes the limits of what paper can become. Hannah Demma Artist Statement: “I have come to consider paper my primary medium. It is ancient and humble, but adaptable to my own shifting modes of artmaking. Paper, when treated, can resemble textiles and fabric. I love thinking about the ways it can flow and drape around other structures. I want to pique the curiosity of the viewer with the materiality of my work. This newer addition of handmade paper and pulp-paintings in my work has added a layer of materials that feels full of infinite possibilities for color and pattern.”

We of course want to thank our local business sponsors who make free arts opportunities for their community possible. Thank you to our June Exhibit presenter WESTCO. We also want to thank our operational grantors that provide us with the foundational support that provides funding for staffing, building expenses, and all other operational costs. Thank you to the Nebraska Arts Council, the Nebraska Cultural Endowment, and the Peter Kiewit Foundation.
