A run in the bottom of the final inning propelled the Peltz Co White squad over the Navy team 2 to 1 in action played Monday in Alliance. In a pitcher’s duel, the Spartan White club held the Navy to just one hit. Starter Kobe went 3.2 innings and struck out 3 while relief pitcher Lexton Salcido finished the game, going 2.1 innings and striking out one. Espen Lanik led the offense with 2 hits. For the Navy group, Fletcher Moseman began the game and went 3 innings. Also taking the mound for the Navy were Miguel Galvan and Kyler Hamel. Galvan had the lone hit for the Spartan Navy team.
Both teams went silently in the first. Both Strom and Moseman set the teams down in order. The fine pitching continued in the second with 0 runs scored. A White double play in the top of the third turned away a Navy rally and kept them off the board. Using 2 hits, the White took the lead in the bottom of inning 3. Carver Nemnich got things going with a single and advanced into scoring position following a sacrifice bunt by Creighton Fritzler. An RBI hit by Lanik was next and the inning closed with the Whites ahead 1 to 0.
Without a hit, the Navy tied the game in the top of the fourth. A hit by batter, a pair of walks, and a balk helped the Peltz Co tie the game at 1 all. In the home half of the fourth, the White failed to score. A single by Galvan gave the Navy hope in the top of the inning but he was stranded on the bags. The White would threaten in the bottom of the fifth but they were turned away following a double play by the Navy.
The game went to the sixth tied at 1. No runs by the Navy were plated in the top of the inning, setting up the walk off action by the White. Lanik had his second hit to began the rally and a sac bunt by Jaxson Poss moved Lanik into scoring position. Lanik then scored on a passed ball, giving the White team a 2 to 1 win.
