Walk off Win by Ogallala Sinks Alliance Seniors

A two out, 2 run single in the bottom of the seventh powered the Ogallala Seniors past Alliance 4 to 3 in a ball game played in Ogallala on Monday. The Spartans led 3 to 2 in the final inning before the Advisor’s rally. Pitching for Alliance were: starter Tony Escamilla who went 6 and 1/3 innings and Kaden Ferguson. Escamilla ended the contest with 4 strikeouts. The Peltz Co finished with 4 hits on the evening with Escamilla being the leader with 2.

Both teams tallied a single run in the their first at bat. A leadoff hit by Alliance’s Espen Lanik began play. A sacrifice bunt ensued and eventually Lanik scored on a pass ball by the hosts. OG responded with a run off their own in the home half of the first inning. The Adams Insurance Advisors used a hit by pitch, a stolen base, and a sac fly to knot the game at 1. No runs were scored in the second and the game went to the third tied at 1.

A single by Escamilla gave Alliance hope in the third, but he was stranded. Alliance’s defense then came up big in the bottom of the inning. The Peltz Co turned a double play which kept the hosts off the board. In the fourth, neither team scored. Alliance top the lead back in the fifth. EJ Garcia began play with a single. Lanik would reach after being hit by a pitch that put runners on first and second. Another sac bunt by Jaxson Martinez moved the runners into scoring position. Escamilla ensued with an RBI hit which scored run #2. The frame closed with an RBI groundout by Ferguson which gave Alliance a 2 run margin. Ogallala came back with a run in their fifth. The hosts used 3 singles that sliced their deficit to 3 to 2.

Both teams went scoreless in the sixth while the Spartans were denied any runs in their last attempt in the seventh. A leadoff double by OG in the finale set the stage for their walk off. It was followed by a pair of walks and a single that ended the contest. Final OG 4 Alliance 3.
