Creel Weber brought home some serious hardware from the state wrestling tournament, earning the title of state champion after battling his way through the competition.
Weber began his journey through the D113 weight division with a match against Isaac Koliha, of Howells-Dodge, pinning him and advancing to the quarterfinals. There, Weber took on Clark Padrnos, of Sumner-Eddyville-Miller, where he won with another pin.
Next, Weber competed in the semifinals against Nolan Osborn, of Twin Loup, edging him out in an ultimate tie-breaker.
On Saturday, Creel Weber competed for the championship against Gatlin Krepela, of Pleasanton. Weber claimed the title with a pin, earning gold and bringing an end to a successful season.
On Sunday, the community of Hemingford gathered in front of Mobius to welcome Weber home and congratulate him on his hard work.
