Strong starting pitching and a big first inning were the right ingredients for the Peltz Co white team in a contest versus Gordon on Saturday. The Spartans downed the Security First Regulators 12 to 0 in a game played in Alliance. Starting pitcher Kobe Strom went the three innings for the Spartans, giving up 0 hits while striking out 5. On offense, the Peltz Co hammered out 7 hits in building a huge lead after one inning of play. The Spartans who lost their opening game to Torrington now have won 8 in a row to see their record go to 8 and 1.
First Security went down in order in the top of the first thanks to 2 strike outs by Strom. In Alliance’s turn in the bottom of the frame, the Spartans batted around. The Spartans sent 15 players to the plate to take a big advantage. Lead off hitter Jaxon Poss began the inning with a hit and advanced after a Gordon error. Two hit by batters were next as the Peltz Co got onto the board. With the bags full, a walk increased the Alliance lead to 2 to 0. Hits then by Braeden Clarke and Kegan Nelson made the scoreboard read Alliance 6 Gordon 0. The hit parade continued with the Peltz Co getting knocks from Jackson Smith and EJ Garcia to go up 7 to 0. The frame closed with an RBI hit by Strom plus a Regulator error and a passed ball by the guests. After 1 inning, Alliance was ahead 10 to 0.
Both teams went quietly in the second with no hits recorded by either club. Strom would walk a pair of Regulators in the top of inning three but Gordon could not cash them in. The game came to a close in the bottom of the inning with the Spartan plating 2 more tallies. A Gordon miscue and another hit by batter set the stage for Spartan Mikey Johnson. The Alliance catcher responded with a 2 RBI hit that finished the game with the Peltz Co white team getting the 12 to 0 victory.
