Winning Ways Continue for AMS Boys in Opening Meet in Gering

Hopes again will be high for the Alliance Middle School track teams with the season beginning on Tuesday with meets in Scottsbluff and Gering. The Bulldogs were again solid, especially for the 8th grade boy’s squad with AMS taking first with 119.75 points. Scottsbluff was second with 92.5 points. In the seventh grade boy’s race, it was Scottsbluff first with 134 points with Gering second at 86.67 points. Alliance finished third with 74 points. The boys event took place in Gering with 7 schools participating. In 2024, the Alliance 8th grade boy’s team won every meet and continue their fine efforts in winning the team title. The Dogs got first place performances in five events. 8th grader Eddie Red Nest led AMS with 2 gold medals in winning both the 100 and long jump. Casyn Nelson struck gold in the 400 while AMS won both the 400 and 1600 relays. Team members in the 400 relay were: Nelson, Red Nest, Carsen Bunnell and Kyler Hamel. In the 4X400 relay, the team consisted of Red Nest, Bunnell, Nelson, and Wyatt Barthel Hardy.

Leading the way for the AMS seventh grade boy’s team was Dixon Bair who won both 100 and 400 races. Bair was also third in the long jump. Top finishers for the Lady Bulldogs were: Kynlee Drews who was third in the 7th grade 100 and Alexis Solis who was third in the 8th grade 400. The girl’s meet was in Scottsbluff with 7 teams taking part. AMS was 7th in the seventh grade girl’s division with 9.5 points. The 8th grade team ended with 13 points which was good for seventh.
