Winter Problems

We’re just getting into the winter months and it’s just a matter of time before we see bitterly cold temperatures and lots of snow. But that’s just a couple of the “problems” we see during the winter months. There are quite a few other difficulties we see during the winter months of January, February and March. Many people who have allergies see winter as a “break” from all of the sneezing and tearing up since the pollen, dust and other things that bother allergy sufferers is locked up in ice and snow. However, some people that have asthma see winter as a problem. For some asthmatics, the inhalation of bitterly cold air induces an asthma attack or an enhanced difficulty in breathing. Therefore, outside activity during the winter months can sometimes be dangerous. Not only do we people have problems, but so do our pets. Many pets will do just fine outdoors in the winter months, as long as they were meant to be outside, like the Husky dog. Just make sure that these pets are well nourished and get plenty of fresh water. Another danger for pets is antifreeze. This time of year, we are all making sure our car won’t freeze up by filling it up with antifreeze.  This stuff is toxic to our pets so make sure it’s put out of reach from our dogs and cats!

Forecast discussion for the week ahead:

As we head into 2025, colder air really starts to take hold. Our average high is in the middle 30s and we’ll be at or below that for highs through the weekend and into next week. Single digits and lower teens will be seen for our lows. Precipitation chances are going to be small but we may see a few snow showers on Saturday when a cold front rolls through. Happy New Year!
