You just have to know who you are to make it work. This is a true story about a young girl who was born in the midwest and was so severely abused that she acted like a cat. She was taken to a home for the severely emotional damaged children. In her growing up home she lived in a room with a bunch of cats and was treated very badly.
When she talked with people she would meow. One day in her new home someone brought a nice little colt. The girl immediately fell in love with the colt. Her counselor told her that if she wanted to take care of the colt she would have to act like a human and not a cat.
This with her Christian training made the difference in her life. We think of a lot of things as amazing in this world and rightfully so, but we don’t think often of the Amazing Grace God grants to us everyday. I love the lyrics where it says, “Saved a wretch like me,” Paul says in the Book of Romans, “Oh wretched man that I am, who will save me from myself, thanks be to God.” We have taken the word wretch out of the song in some places. What is wrong with being a wretch? Does it lower my self esteem? Does it play havoc with my foolish pride? Will it give me less fullfillment in life?
Certainly not for the Bible says, “The truth will make you free.”
Nowhere in life is there joy and fullfillment like knowing God’s Word. Don’t be scared to be a wretch for then you will depend on God and when you depend on God you will really find life at last. All because He loves us wretches!
