John “Jack” Morrow Obituary

On April 29, 2022, John “Jack” Morrow, beloved husband, father of four, grandfather of five and great-grandfather of four passed away.

Jack was born and raised in the sandhills of western Nebraska, attended the University of Nebraska and was always a Cornhusker fan.  He married his childhood sweetheart, Kay Cover, while still in school and soon after was commissioned as an officer in the United States Air Force.  He proudly served his country for over twenty years as a KC-135 Stratotanker pilot providing essential aerial refueling capabilities stateside as well as overseas including during the Vietnam war. Upon retirement he fulfilled his dream of retiring in God’s country and opening Morrow Marine, later including his two youngest children in the business.   His second career provided him the opportunity to set down roots and serve in a community he loved.  Jack was active in local affairs and most proud of his early and longtime support of the UP200 Sled Dog Association, Forsyth Snowmobile Club, Jack Pine Mushers, Gwinn Business Association, VFW and UPAWS of Marquette.

The lives of Jack and Kay were wrapped up in their family.  They introduced their children to world travels, camping, boating, skiing and the love of the outdoors and always proper flag etiquette. Once settled on the lake, they continued to pursue UP sports including mushing and snowmobiling.  For four generations the lake house continued to be the family hub even as the children left the nest to pursue their own dreams. For those who knew Jack he’ll be remembered by his quick smile and a wise crack never letting the opportunity to tease slip by.  He was always a class act and enjoyed a good glass of Cutty Sark.

Jack was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Kay, his grandson, Tyler, and his parents, William and Helen Morrow and two brothers, Tom and Bill. Left to carry on the family legacy are Jack’s children, John (Lorelle) Morrow, Mary B. (Eric) McGlone, Kathy (Donny) Kind and Tom Morrow; grandchildren, Natalie Morrow (Corey Hartman), Keith McGlone (Lindsey Cardwell), Dana McGlone and Thomas Morrow (Monica Ehlen); great-grandchildren, Cole, Rocco, Brick and Flip.  And, of course, his most favorite of all, the dogs:  Trixie, Dudley, Finnegan, Bailey, Scout and all the many pups before.

The family is forever grateful to all of his extended family at Mill Creek and friends in Gwinn.  There will be a celebration of Jack’s life at a family reunion sometime this summer.  Any donations in his honor may be made to UPAWS of Marquette or a charity of your choice.
