The American Legion Post 7 and Auxiliary Unit 7 have presented School Awards to eighth grade and high school graduates in Alliance. Recipients, chosen by the schools, are honored “In Further Recognition of the possession of those high qualities of Courage, Honor, Leadership, Patriotism, Scholarship and Service which are necessary to the preservation and protection of the fundamental institutions of our government and the advancement of society.”
This year’s honors have been presented to Daniel Steele and Shelbee Burke from Alliance High School, with honorable mention going to Tyler Jensen and Morgan Moomey; Jett Herian and Angel Johnson from Alliance Middle School, with honorable mention going to William Nollette and Sarayah Gomez; Tremaine Red Bear and Peytann Lunbery from Immanuel Evangelical Lutheran School, with Amelia Gibson earning honorable mention; and Isaac Baker and Alexis Libsack from St. Agnes Academy.
Post Commander Steve Stanec, Brad Moomey and Dick Foland presented the awards for the Legion. The young men all received certificates, with first place honors receiving a School Award Medal. Unit President Luayne Weisgerber presented awards for the Auxiliary. The young ladies all received certificates, with first place honors receiving a poppy corsage.
