The Alliance girls varsity golf team traveled to Sidney on August 22, where they participated in their first meet of the season. There were seven other teams in attendance. Alliance ended up with a DNF due to only having three members on the team. The golfers who had participated in the meet were three who returned from the previous year: junior Annaka Digmann, sophomore Emily McCune and sophomore Kayel Lambert, led by Coach Berlyn Clear.
“Sidney is a difficult course with a lot of hills, native grass and sloping greens, so it is always a challenge, especially for the first meet of the year. The girls played well and finished strong,” said Clear.
McCune shot a 105 and placed tenth.
“This was the first time Emily has been in the top 10 since she started golfing in high school and I believe that we will see her in the top 10 more again this year,” said Clear.
Digmann shot a 122 and set a personal record, placing 24th.
“I feel like I played very well. I scored my personal best which was 122 at one of the hardest courses this season. I want to continue to improve overall,” said Digmann.
Lambert shot a 126 and placed 26th.
“Annaka and Kayel have shown improvement over last year, and I am looking forward to seeing that continue as well. It is always good to get that first tournament completed. It helps us to see what we need to go back to the course to work on,” said Clear.
The following are the results for the Sidney Invitational:
Emily McCune: Par +32 – 105
Annaka Digmann: Par +49 – 122
Kayel Lambert: Par +53 – 126
