Tourism:

Public Works:

• Landfill stairs complete.

• Street scan data collection underway. This information will be used to grade and prioritize roadway repair as part of the City’s ongoing 6-year street maintenance plan.

• Knight Park bathroom demolition underway.

• 305 tons of refuse collected and landfill this week.

• 692 transit riders this week.

Police Admin:

• Meetings: INA Alert (All radios for cameras are installed), Central Square, CALEA, Datalytics, Viper 7, PAARI, Nebraska PATH, South Central 911, SRS, PCAB, Behavioral Health, RDAR, Metrohm, DOVES.

Police Communications/Intelligence:

• Coordinated 543 calls for service.

• Completed 26 report requests.

• 2 firearms permits issued.

Police Operations:

• 7 Child Welfare Investigations.

• 0 DUI, 12 Traffic Stops.

• 5 accidents.

• 0 K9 deployments.

• 89 Building Checks.

Animal Control:

• 29 Animal Calls.

• 3 Dog Impounds. 0 dogs currently in the shelter.

Code Enforcement:

• 3 Code enforcement issues.

Notable Service:

• Satisfaction rating 91.5%.

• Overall crime is down 4.3% YTD from last year YTD.

• Completed CSLLEA Audit.

• NSP Records Audit Complete.

Fire:

• Participated in the Autumn in Alliance event on Saturday. Approximately 500 people rode on our historic 1944 American LaFrance fire truck.

• Meet with Airport Manager on FAA fuel code interpretation.

Electric:

• Work continues on the 10th to 18th street Emerson/Platte alley rebuild project.

• Continued to assist Warehouse with yearly inventory.

• All department personnel were re-certified on bucket truck rescue/ground control operation.

• Continue to repair/replace streetlights as needed.

• Several personnel assisted Tourism Department with Autumn in Alliance celebration.

• Several personnel attended CT metering class.

Chamber of Commerce:

• The Alliance Chamber Ambassadors visited October Spotlight Business, Nebraska Bank.

• The Alliance Chamber Ambassadors visited Crossroads Music.

• Leadership Box Butte started with the first session being Community Pride.

Golf:

• SkyView will host the Flogger tournament Oct 1st which is the last tournament of the season. It is a cross country tournament where players play the course from different tees to different holes.

• Play continues to be steady as weather conditions allow.

• The shop recently received several inventory items that were ordered last March. Supply chain issues have significantly affected delivery times in the golf industry.

RSVP & Senior Center:

• Helped with updating job descriptions for the Senior Center Staff.

• Continued providing meals in the dining room and delivering them to individuals who are home bound.

• Assisted with Autumn in Alliance Celebration.

Museum:

• We hosted Advance Services/Western Sugar training for Fall harvest employees this week.

• The Museum Scrappers will start for this year on next Friday, Oct. 7 and also on Saturday, Oct. 8. If you interested in preserving your family photos give us a call to reserve a spot. There are some supplies provided. Call Becci at 762-2384.

• The Barn Quilt workshop scheduled for Saturday Oct. 1 has been moved to Jan. 21. For more information checkout www.artisticinnovationsne.com.

• The winter hours start on Saturday Oct. 1. Monday-Friday 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., Saturday 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and closed Sundays.

Library:

• Work is continuing on the new bookstore and the Bountiful Auction that will be later this fall.

• Technical Services Librarian Emily Nelson completed the organization and inventory of the Regional Collection. She also created promotional materials and a Facebook event for the Tosca Lee author visit on Oct. 13. Emily updated the Bookworm and other information on the website, processed ILLs for our book club and private book clubs, and completed the weekly Bookmobile deliveries.

• Children’s Librarian Cynthia Horn recognized the Autumn in Alliance Coloring Contest Winners with prizes and photos! She is rolling along with preparations for October activities and Halloween displays for books.

• Adult Services Librarian Nalani Stewart taught a Jute Letter Door Hanging Craft class, held our monthly book club, and held our first Bring Your Own Book Club. She also continued work on our Fiction inventory and Series list project and worked on the “Community and Library” NLC course. She is planning new craft classes for November and December with a local artist.

• Library Clerks Pam Becker and Kris Wilder have once again made the library look spectacular for Fall! They also have been busy with all the new material inventory that had been coming in!

• Beginning Monday, the East parking lot and book drop will be closed to create a staging area for contractors who will be replacing the skylight and roof after extensive hail damage. This project will continue for several weeks.

Parks

• Winterized the swimming pool water lines, bath house and pump house. This includes blowing out the buildings as well as taking fixtures apart to eliminate concerns with pipes cracking over the winter. Packed up and moved temperature sensitive items into storage for the winter.

• Winterized and blew out the irrigation downtown, in small parks and facilities.

• Applied winterizer fertilizer to all the large parks and ball fields in town and the entire cemetery.

• Coordinated with a contractor to get the fountain supply line repaired.

• Ringed, mulched, and watered the newly planted trees at the lineman school.

• Met with the contractor and finalized the irrigation addition on the south side of Central Park.

• The fountain will be lit up pink over the weekend for Breast Cancer Awareness in October and then Blue for homecoming at the end of next week!

Airport:

• Runway painting has been completed and close out letter from the FAA received.

• Taxiway/Apron Rehabilitation project is going well. Milling for the current phases is complete, concrete repairs being made, and asphalt should be going back down next week, weather permitting.

• Drone plan submitted and approved for airport certification manual.

• Started working on updating the airspace classification for the airport.

• A huge thank you to Deb Jessee who worked at the airport this summer when we had vacancies. Today is her last day at the airport and we appreciate all the hard work.

BBDC:

• Leadership Box Butte kicked off this week with Orientation Wednesday and Community Pride Thursday, great group of leaders! Excited for this adventure.

Finance:

• Finance is busy closing out the fiscal year.
