Big First Period Helps Lady Bulldogs Race Past Trailblazers

Eighteen first quarter points powered the Alliance Lady Bulldogs past the Torrington Trailblazers 37 to 23 in a ball game played Tuesday in Alliance. With the win the Dogs improved to 2 and 2 on the year. Alliance grabbed their first win on the season Saturday with a victory over Hot Springs in a contest played in South Dakota. Torrington was victorious in the JV game, defeating the Bulldogs 36 to 29.

Senior CC Hudson got Alliance off to a good start with a score early in period #1. It was followed by a three by Macey Seebohm that extended the Bulldog margin to 5 to 0. Torrington answered with a three of their own that sliced their deficit to 5 to 3. But it was the last Blazer score of the period. A strong 2-3 zone defense by Alliance kept the guests off the scoreboard. With under 2 minutes left in the quarter the Alliance offense went to work. Senior Jaelynne Clarke scored the Bulldogs next 8 points with 3 buckets and 2 free throws. The first period came to an end with another hoop by Seebohm. After one quarter of play, Alliance led 18 to 3. Torrington would outscore the hosts in the second but by just one points. Three more points by Clarke plus 2 points each by Hudson, Seebohm, and Addison Weber would account by the Bulldog scoring in the second. At half Alliance was up 27 to 13.

The Blazers again would outscore Alliance in the third that cut their margin to 12. Alliance got a trey by Seebohm and a free throw by Clarke to help maintain their lead. Going to the fourth Alliance was ahead 31 to 19. Free throws by Clarke and Seebohm began the Bulldog scoring in the final period. Late baskets by Weber and Hudson closed the scoring with Alliance winning 37 to 23

Seebohm was Alliance’s top scorer with 14 points followed by 13 by Clarke. Rounding out the scoring was Hudson who had 6 and Weber who had 4.
