Sheriff’s Office Takes Suspect into Custody Following Pursuit

An emergency lookout issued the morning of March 26 for a wanted subject in a rural area of Scotts Bluff County was cancelled after the suspect was taken into custody.

The incident began when the Scottsbluff Police Department took an auto theft report this morning shortly before 7 a.m.

At approximately 7:15 a.m., a Scotts Bluff County Deputy spotted the vehicle on Highway 26. A pursuit ensued, with the lone male occupant eventually abandoning the vehicle and fleeing on foot.

Officers from multiple agencies searched the area, and eventually a citizen spotted the individual running.

Cresencio Castillo, male, age 25, of Gering NE was taken into custody by Deputies without incident.

Following his arrest, Deputies booked Cresencio Castillo into the Scotts Bluff County Detention Center on the following charges: Flight to Avoid Arrest, Willful Reckless Driving, Leaving the Scene on an Accident, 1st Degree Trespassing, Obstruction of a Peace Officer, Possession of Stolen Property-Stolen Vehicle, Criminal Mischief, Driving During Revocation 3rd Offense, and two active Scotts Bluff County Arrest Warrants, one for “attempt of a Class 4 Felony,” another for “Shoplifting.”

Agencies involved include the Sheriff’s Office, Scottsbluff Police Department, Nebraska State Patrol, Minatare/Melbeta Fire Department, Nebraska Game and Parks officers and Regional West Ambulance Service.
