The always super competitive Class B District 6 track meet was held in Ogallala on Tuesday, May 7 with 9 schools attending. In the team races it was the McCook Bison winning the boy’s crown with
111 points. Gothenberg was second with 97 points. Alliance finished with 17 points which was good for 8th overall. Sidney easily won the girl’s team race with 119 points while McCook was second with 85.5 points. The Alliance girl’s squad tallied 19 points and ended 9th overall.
The Bulldogs will be sending five athletes to the state meet in Omaha which is Wednesday and Thursday, May 15 and 16. For the Lady Bulldogs Junior Kayel Lambert had a super day taking third in the 400 and fourth in the 200 and is a state qualifier in two events. Junior Josie Sanders will compete in Omaha in the 300 hurdles after finishing sixth in District action. Another Junior Shyla Salcido punched her ticket to Omaha in the Shot Put with a fifth place showing on Tuesday.
Also qualifying for Omaha was senior Jaelynne Clarke in the triple jump. Clarke was a fifth place finisher. The lone boy to qualify is Trevor Zurn. The Bulldog Sophomore is making a return trip to state in the 800. Zurn finished second at Districts.
