In a contest played in Alliance on Thursday night, it was the Sidney Juniors recording a 14 to 3 win over the Alliance Peltz Co team. The Spartans fell behind 4 to 0 in the opening inning and could not recover. Sidney hammered out 13 hits in the victory. Pitching for the Spartans were starter Jaxon Poss, Nason Thompson, Mikey Johnson, and Braeden Clarke. At the plate the Peltz Co got hits from Jaxson Martinez, Johnson, and Thompson.
Sidney wasted to time in grabbing the early lead. The Post 17 visitors scored four runs in the opening inning on 4 hits, a walk, and 2 errors by Alliance. Meanwhile the Spartan offense went 1-2-3 and after one inning of action, Sidney led 4 to 0.
Both teams tallied a run in the second. Sidney used a walk, a stolen base, and a single to increase their margin to 5 to 0. A leadoff single by Thompson began a mini rally for Alliance in the bottom of the inning. Creighton Fritzler then plated the Spartan’s first run with a RBI groundout. After two innings of play, the Peltz Co Juniors trailed 5 to 1. Both teams fail to score in the third but the guest’s bats came alive in the top of the fourth. Using 4 hits and 2 walks Sidney put 3 runs of the board and took a 8 to 1 lead. Alliance answered right back with a 2 spot in the home half of the fourth. A leadoff double by Spartan Jaxson Martinez started the scoring. Martinez then scored on a Sidney wild pitch for run #2. Johnson singled and scored on a sacrifice fly by Espen Lanik. After four complete innings, Sidney led 8 to 3. Any hope of an Alliance comeback were squashed in the top of the fifth as Sidney plated 6 runs on 4 hits and 4 walks. Alliance fail to score in the bottom of the fifth and the game came to a close with a Sidney win 14 to 3.
