James Ralph Lentz Jr.,

April 20th, 1946 – August 16th, 2034

James “Jim” Ralph Lentz Jr., age 79, of Hemingford, Nebraska, was born to the late James Ralph Lentz and Agnes (Spiers) Lentz on April 20th, 1945, in Winston-Salem, North Carolina. Jim passed in the early morning hours of August 16th, 2024.

A proud USMC Veteran, Jim served his country in the Vietnam War as a Tank Commander, Sergeant (E-5), in the 1st Tank Battalion at the very beginning of American engagement at the “Lolipop Landing” in 1962, until his second (mandatory) Tour of Duty to train incoming troops ended in 1966.

A jovial spirit, Jim repeatedly reached the top of his field throughout his career in the civilian world. He was promoted to the executive in charge of Fleet Maintenance at Permian Corporation in the mid 1990’s in Midland, Texas. He was also hired as a top executive at Howard Power Steering, and TriMac. He then retired after achieving Double Diamond selling status at CarMax in San Antonio, Texas.

Jim is survived by his wife of 44 years, Anita Lentz; sons Scott Daniel Lentz, Ray Jackson, and Devin Jackson; seven grandchildren, one great-grandchild, and brother Robert Lentz.

Graveside services and interment of ashes with be held on September 16th at 11:00 a.m. at the Veterans Cemetery at Alliance, with a luncheon at the VFW in Alliance to follow.
