Girls on the Run to Host ‘Ghouls on the Run’ 5K Oct. 27 in Chadron

Calling all Ghouls on the Run! There’s a new 5K in Chadron and it’s rolling out the red carpet for monsters on the move, just in time for Halloween!

Girls on the Run of Nebraska is gearing up for a fun-filled, Halloween-themed GOTR 5K at 2:30 p.m. Oct. 27 at Chadron High School. This family-friendly event is open to the public. Costumes are encouraged to kick off Halloween week.

The GOTR 5K will be the culminating event for Girls on the Run participants at schools in Chadron, Hay Springs, Gordon and Rushville. Teams have been meeting since early September to train for the 5K and learn life lessons on goal-setting and achievement as part of GOTR’s eight-week season. Public entries are welcome to join this community run, which has previously been conducted in May.

Linda Rischling, Panhandle GOTR coordinator, is excited to offer the event in the fall.

1“By moving the 5K to the fall, it adds a new level of fun for the girls and the northern Panhandle,” she said. “The Chadron community really comes out to support this event. The Halloween theme will be a blast, and I can’t wait to see the runners and volunteers all decked out in costumes.”

Pre-5K festivities, staged on the football field, will include hair painting, temporary tattoos, bling your bib, a selfie booth, dancing and other fun activities.
