With a victory over the Tigers of Mitchell, the Alliance volleyball team placed third at the Western Conference tourney which was played in Alliance. The Lady Bulldogs started the day with a win over Chadron. It was followed by a loss to Gering before the Dogs came back to down Mitchell in 2 sets in getting third place. Gering won the 6 team tournament with a 2 set victory over Scottsbluff.
In the third place matchup against Mitchell, the Bulldogs lead throughout set one. An early point by Alliance’s Ryli Poss gave AHS the advantage at 4 to 1. It was followed by an ace spike by Addison Weber that put the Dogs out in front 6 to 3. Up 11 to 5, Alliance got an ace serve by Macey Seebohm that pushed their lead to 12 to 5. Later in the opener, another kill by Weber made the score 20 to 12 in favor of the hosts. The set came to a finish with Alliance getting an ace block by Josie Sanders. Set 1 Alliance 25 Mitchell 23
Mitchell came out hot in set 2. The Tigers led 3 to 1 before another kill by Weber closed the gap to 1. Down 13 to 12, an ace serve by Weber knotted the contest at 13. An ace from the serving line by Bulldog Alexis Libsack came later as Alliance surge ahead 18 to 15. Two more Libsack points gave AHS the advantage at 20 to 15 later in the set. Up 2, the Lady Bulldogs received a Poss kill that put the score at 23 to 20. Set 2 closed with a Weber ace and AHS garnering the win 25 to 21.

Before the win over Mitchell, Alliance matched up with Gering in their second game of the day. Gering raced to an early lead in set #1. The visiting Bulldogs scored the game’s first 6 points before a kill by Weber ended the spree. Gering came back with 3 straight to move ahead 9 to 1. Kills for Alliance by Libsack and Sanders kept the Bulldogs in striking distance at 12 to 5. But 3 consecutive points by Gering made the Alliance deficit stand at 15 to 5. Three points later in the set by Bulldog Taylee Thompson closed the gap but the visitors answered back with 3 in a row to go up 23 to 11. A kill by Weber and a point by Paz Cody stopped the rally but 2 Gering points finished off AHS in the set. Set 1 went to Gering 25 to 13.
Play was tight in set 2. Four big Sanders points helped the hosts go up 5 to 1 in the early stages. Kills by Weber and Poss keyed the Bulldog run. More big plays by Poss and Weber followed as the Bulldogs maintained their margin. Midway thru the set, it was Gering gaining the advantage. The G Dogs tied the match at 11 before kills by Weber and Libsack put Alliance ahead at 13 to 11. Following a kill by Sanders, the guests put 4 straight in scoring column to move ahead 16 to 14. A kill by Kaiah Adams and ace block by Weber ensued as AHS tied the battle at 16. The momentum then went back to the visitors with Gering scoring the game’s next 5 points. Down 4, Alliance’s Thompson went to the service line and deliver with 4 straight with help coming in the form of ace spikes by Weber and Libsack.
