Chappell hosted the Storm Invite track meet on Tuesday with 11 teams participating in the event. North Platte St. Patrick’s won both team titles. The Irish were first on the girl’s side with 125 points while Paxton was second with 82 points. Hemingford was fourth with 74 points. St. Pats also won the boy’s title with 148 points. Hemingford was second with 83 points. Both Bobcat teams had 4 first place performances. Leading the scoring for the Lady Cats was junior Dakota Horstman who won both the mile and 2 mile races. Senior Aurora Hinman was also a double gold medal performer in winning both the 800 and 100 hurdles race. For the boys, Hemingford got first place efforts from: the 400 relay, Jayce Haas in the 200, Boady Hunter in the 800, and Austin Benda in the mile. The victorious 4 x 100 relay had members: Zaine Feist, Jayce Haas, Lucas Sulzbach, and Cody Galles.
“Gusty at times, but most of our athletes did a great job of staying positive and competing through it. The athletes that are competing to the best of their abilities in practice and coming into the meets wanting to showcase their work, are really lighting up the times and the marks right now. It’s been fun to watch their success come from their work and dedication,” said Coach Joshua Dean.
