Things got very interesting going into the final event at the Sidney Invite track meet on Wednesday for the Alliance 8th grade boy’s team. The Bulldogs held just a 3 points lead, 86 to 83, over Sidney heading into the final event. But the Dogs had a stacked mile relay team and won the event and went on to take the team title. AMS ended their day with 96 points for first place while Sidney was second with 87 points. The mile relay consisted of team members: Casyn Nelson, Wyatt Barthel Hardy, Eddie Red Nest, and Ethan Bates. Their winning time was an impressive 3:56. Along with the first place finish in the mile relay, AMS had four other first place finishers. They were: Nelson in the 400, the 400 relay, Xander Narjes in the 100 hurdles, and Kylar Adams in the pole vault. Red Nest, Nelson, Canden Marsteller, and Kyler Hamel were the members of the victorious 400 relay. There were 7 schools attending the event.
With 45 points, the seventh grade boy’s squad ended fifth overall. AMS got first place performances from Dixon Bair who won the 100 and Grant Bloyd who was first in the long jump. The Lady Bulldogs took sixth in the seventh grade division with 24.5 points and got a silver medal effort from Jailee Jurado in the discus. Scoring 11 points which was good for 7th overall was the AMS girls in the 8th grade division.
