On Saturday, May 31st, the Alliance Peltz Co baseball squad picked up win fifteen with a fourteen to one victory over the Laramie Rangers. The Spartans now have a fifteen and two record for the year. Braeden Clarke led the way offensively for Alliance with three hits. Overall, the Peltz Co concluded with twelve hits total. Starting pitcher Kegan Nelson went 1.1 innings and was relieved by Jackson Smith who recorded 4 strike outs. The game was a five inning affair and was played in Fort Morgan, Colorado.
Alliance was the aggressor right from the start. The Peltz Co scored three in the top of the opening frame to surge ahead. A leadoff triple by Spartan Jaxon Poss set the tone for the game. An error by the Rangers and passed ball made the score one to zero. Another passed ball followed giving the Spartans run two. Carver Nemnich delivered a double and scored Alliance’s third tally after another Laramie miscue and a balk. The Rangers went scoreless in the bottom of the inning and after one complete, the Peltz Co had a three to zero lead.
Both clubs went scoreless in the second. Alliance got a knock from Clarke but no runs. Nelson had two k’s for the Spartans as the Rangers also failed to score. Inning number three was a good one for Alliance. Overall, the Spartans increased their margin with five big tallies. Tony Escamilla started the scoring by reaching on an error by Wyoming.
Alliance’s fourth run came after a Ranger passed ball. Nemnich was then hit by a pitch to continue the rally. Four hits then followed as the Spartans pulled away. The Peltz Co got knocks by Mikey Johnson, Jaxson Esparza, Lexton Salcido, and Clarke to go up seven to zero. A Laramie balk finished the scoring with Alliance ahead eight to zero.
Poss added a hit and the game went to the bottom of the third with Alliance ahead by eight. The lone Ranger tally came in the third thanks to a walk and a double.
A pair of goose eggs were recorded in the fourth by both clubs with Alliance still leading eight to one. In the top of the fifth, the Spartans put the game away with six tallies. Esparza was hit by a pitch to start things and advanced following hits by Lexton Salcido and Clarke. A passed ball by Wyoming made the score nine to one.
A two run error by the Rangers was next making it an eleven to one affair. The scoring came a close with hits by Spartan Tanner Salcido and Johnson. Going to the bottom of the fifth, the Peltz Co was up fourteen to one. A double play turned by the Alliance defense finished the game with the Spartans winning fourteen to one.
