Prep Team Loses Tough 8 to 7 decision to Kimball

Alliance played host to Kimball on Monday in legion baseball action. The Prep squad came up just short, losing 8 to 7. A five first inning helped the guests take a big lead. Alliance would rally to tie the battle at 6 in the second but 2 more Kimball tallies in the third proved to be the difference. The Peltz Co used 2 pitchers-starter Quinn Ferguson and reliever Kylar Adams. At the plate, the Spartans collected 6 hits in the four inning affair.

Red hot hitting by the guests was on display in the opening frame. Kimball used 5 singles to take the early advantage . The hits plus a few walks put the guests ahead 5 to 0 heading into the bottom of the first. Alliance responded with 2 tallies in the home half. Silas Lilley-Stone began the scoring with a single and moved into scoring position following walks by Cooper Galles and Esai Trejo. Ferguson was next and his run scoring hit made it a 5 to 1 game. The Spartans then reloaded the bases after a knock by Ryan Walker. An error by Kimball ensued as the inning closed with Alliance trailing just by 3.

Both teams scored in the second. Kimball added to their advantage with one run. In relief, Adams recorded three strikeouts in the frame. The offense for the Peltz Co came around in the bottom of the second. Alliance would plated 4 to knot the game at 6. AJ Garcia started the scoring when he reached after being hit by a pitch. Eventually, Garcia would score after an RBI groundout by Spartan Cisco Cody. The score went to 6 to 4 following a pair of walks and a run scoring hit by Trejo. A 2 run Kimball miscue ended the inning with the score tied at 6.

Four walks in the third helped the guests retake the lead. Up 7 to 6, Kimball used an Alliance wild pitch to increase their lead to 2. In the bottom of inning #3, the Prep team sliced their deficit to 1. An RBI knock by Braden Myers made the score 8 to 7. Cody followed with a hit but both runners were stranded on the bases. Both teams failed to score in the fourth and final inning. Final Kimball 8 Alliance 7
